Miraculous fishing catch but tragic outcome
Rurutu : a woman saved from drowning throws herself overboard
M. Moana Ataora, member of the prestigious Fishing Cooperative
Piareare, exclaims : "She looked hard to us, terrified,
then she throwed herself overboard !" . During the
night of thursday to friday, M. Ataora and his nephew were
fishing in the Tauraatua Pass, North-East of Rurutu Island.
How surprised they have been, when they found a woman trapped
in their fishing net !
The fisherman declares :" Her arms and her legs were
covered with cuts, and I thought that she was lucky not
to have been attacked by a shark"
Mathias Laurent.
Unfortunately, the young women has been saved in vain :
Extricated from the net by the two men, she straight throwed
herself overboard, and vanished in the darkness and the
depths of the ocean.
Blast of madness, or suicidal tendencies ? The young woman
carried her secret with her.
The investigations to find her have been continued until
friday afternoon. But at night, in the R. Diving Center
who participated at the search with two rubber dinghy, the
policemen and the divers agreed that the woman, probably
worn-out, drowned.
From this tragic appearance remains only a tuft of the unknown
woman's light brown hair, twisted in the stitches of the
net.
